Respect Your Cat Day

Did you know that Respect Your Cat is coming up March 28? Fluffy may think every day is Respect Your Cat Day, but we double-checked! Respecting your kitty doesn’t necessarily just mean complimenting her: it means making sure that her needs are taken care of. Read on as a local Isle of Palms, SC vet lists some great ways to respect your pet’s needs and wishes.

Kitty Furniture

Make your home more cat-friendly by offering your kitty some things of her own, such as comfy beds and cat towers. Actually, cat towers are great for our feline friends. They let Fluffy indulge her natural desires to for climbing and scratching, and they encourage healthy activities like jumping and climbing. Of course, they also offer your feline overlord a high perch, from which she can survey her kingdom.

Entertainment Options

Your cat’s mental health is very important to her overall well-being. Make sure your furry friend has plenty of entertainment options. Toys are of course a necessity. Cats also love birdwatching, so a window seat is another good option.

Clean Litterbox

Keep your pet’s powder room clean by scooping it daily and changing the litter every week or so. Cats hate dirty bathrooms, and who can blame them?

Veterinary Care

We know, Fluffy may not be thrilled about coming to visit us. However, your feline pal will be much healthier with proper veterinary care. At home, watch for signs of sickness, such as hiding, poor grooming, or litterbox issues. If you notice anything amiss, don’t wait: contact your vet right away.

Good Food

Good nutrition is very important! Make sure Fluffy is getting good, quality food. Picking pet food brands can be tricky, so you’ll want to check the labels. Opt for brands that list meat, fish, or chicken first, and as the most numerous ingredient.

Cuddle Time

Let your kitty decide if and when she wants to be held or petted. Cats can be very particular about this, but that’s another topic entirely!

Purr Activation

Pay attention to your pet. Spend time with Fluffy every day: let her curl up on you as you’re watching TV, or take a few minutes to dangle a toy in front of her.

Please feel free to contact us, your Isle of Palms, SC animal hospital, for all of your cat’s veterinary care needs. We are always here to help!
