The Rules of Being a Cat

If there’s one thing we know about cats, it’s that they are all their own unique individuals. But, although kitties are certainly full of cute quirks, our feline friends do share many common traits. In fact, cats seem to have an unspoken code of conduct. If Fluffy did have golden rules to live by, what do you think those would be? A Mt. Pleasant, SC vet makes a few educated guesses below.

Get Lots of Sleep

If cats had just one rule, it would probably be to get plenty of sleep. These drowsy little furballs can sleep up to 20 hours a day! Certain situations also require Fluffy to take emergency naps. If your kitty has an encounter with a sunbeam, a warm blanket, or an empty lap, she may have to snatch some extra Z’s!

Observe Your Humans

Cats certainly like to supervise their people. Fluffy may follow you from one room to another, and might even follow you into the bathroom! Perhaps kitties are worried that we may be secretly petting another cat?

Look Your Best

Cats spend quite a bit of time grooming themselves. Fluffy could spend hours every day keeping her fur soft and shiny. Kitties always want to put their best paw forward!

Eat Well

Our feline friends can be quite finicky. There is a good reason for this: in the wild, kitties only eat their prey fresh. Fluffy will turn her little nose up at anything that smells even a tiny bit off. Cats certainly pay attention to what they eat!

Explore Your World

Cats are naturally quite curious, and will investigate every nook and cranny of their domains. Fluffy will also carefully inspect any new items you bring home, especially boxes.

Show Your Love

Cats can be extremely affectionate. Some kitties start purring as soon as you pet them or pick them up, and others would be perfectly happy to be cuddled 24/7. There’s no mistaking kitty kisses and snuggles for anything other than adoration!

Speak Your Mind

Our feline friends can be pretty clear about what they want and don’t want. Your kitty won’t hesitate to let you know if she wants breakfast, or when she wants you to stop petting her.
