6 Things to Do For Your Cat on National Cat Day

Did you know that October 29th is officially National Cat Day? Cats have been our friends, companions, and lap warmers for thousands of years. Their adorable faces, cute and quirky personalities, and hilarious antics are definitely something to celebrate! Read on as a local Mt. Pleasant, SC vet lists suggests some great ways to pamper Fluffy on her special day.

Kitty Furniture

We know, Fluffy certainly doesn’t mind making herself comfortable on your sofa. Or chair. Or bed. Or anything else in your home, for that matter. However, our feline friends do benefit from having some kitty furniture, things that are made just for them. Consider getting your cat a new bed, kitty condo, or even a cat tower. You can also save money by going the DIY route. Look online for great ideas and step-by-step instructions

Another way to activate the purr is to give your cat a special treat. You can offer Fluffy a can of tuna or chicken in water; cooked meat, fish, or poultry without the skin, bones, or fat; or some shredded deli meat.

Photo Session

This is a great time to get some adorable pictures of your feline friend. Many cats have a knack for looking cute, then moving as soon as you reach for your camera. To catch Fluffy’s attention, download a pet camera app, or use a squeaky toy.

Apparently our feline friends have some fans in the technology sector, as there are now quite a few games you can download for Fluffy to play on your phone or tablet. Test out a few, and see if your pet likes them.

Veterinary Care

While visiting us probably wouldn’t be Fluffy’s ideal way to spend the day, your pet will be happier and healthier with regular veterinary care. If your kitty hasn’t seen the vet recently, let this be a reminder to schedule her next appointment!

Window Seat

Did you know that birdwatching is one of Fluffy’s favorite activities? Even the laziest housecat will enjoy watching birds and squirrels, and daydreaming about hunting. Make your kitty a comfy window seat, where she can combine three of her favorite things: sunbathing, napping, and spying on local wildlife.
